Rehabilitating a landmark of Damascus, from structural treatment and cladding repair to renewed lighting, while preserving its architectural identity.
As part of the rehabilitation of Umayyad Square, Reflect Engineering restored and rehabilitated the Damascene Sword Monument. The works included cleaning and sandblasting the metal structure, replacing damaged plexiglass panels, and repairing, sealing, and applying a heat- and weather-resistant coating to the supporting framework.
The monument’s body was also refurbished with cementitious cladding and a new color scheme harmonized with the surrounding urban landscape, while preserving its original design identity and introducing minor refinements to its details.
The scope also included waterproofing the basin floor, servicing the fountains surrounding the monument, and fully upgrading the lighting system, connecting it to a modern control panel to ensure operational efficiency and long-term reliability.
Renewing the hospitality experience while preserving its classical character, across rooms, amenities, pool and façades. Work was in progress when the 2026 profile was prepared.
